Well, this isn’t Aspen’s first time on a basketball court, but it is her first game in 2010. Her Black Ninjas team got off to a slow start, but made a valiant comeback in the end.

This post is one of those that’s really about good ol’ Tim. Later, when I want to remember what Christmas 2009 was like, I’ll come looking for this post, and these pictures. Feel free to join me in that memory if you like.

How do you stop your daughters from sneaking down to see if Santa came in a house as open ours?

And really, what better day is there to risk taking a picture of a sleeping child? I mean, we wanted her to wakeup, already!

We are very lucky to have such a great teacher for Aspen… her choir director at church. Mr. James is all sorts of awesome.

Last night, we got to watch Aspen’s Christmas performance, complete with percussion and singing… a pretty cool experience.

If you’d like to watch it, you can do so right now (in an abbreviated form…)

Enjoy

Target Logo

Aspen and Jenn were hanging out this week, and Aspen happened to notice a bag with a logo much like the one above.

Aspen: Now I get it!
Jenn: What?
Aspen: Now I get why a Target bag has that shape on it. It’s a target.
Jenn: Yes.
Aspen: That must be their mah-tah!
Jenn: What?!
Aspen: Their mah-tah.
Jenn: Do you mean their “motto”?
Aspen: Yes. Sorry.
Jenn: Yeah, well, it’s OK. That’s their logo

(Note: Aspen finds stuff like this funny, too! We still laugh about the way she first pronounced “dev-ah-stuh-ted”…)

There’s nothing particularly monumental about these two soccer games, but if you’re way into the soccer videos, enjoy. Aspen’s team, the Purple Pandas, took a bit of a beating from one of the Brentwood Soccer Club teams. Aside from our inability to get out of goal kicks and goalie pickups, things were relatively even.

As for Oakley’s game, the Smashing Dolphins looked pretty good. Strangely enough, they were playing a team called the “Blue Dolphins”. Ironically, the Blue Dolphins were navy, and the Smashing Dolphins, blue.

lays

As new homes in Tennessee go, ours is in a pretty old spot. The very first settlement in Williamson County was, literally, across the street from us, and dates back to at least 1800. We’re talking really old. In fact, our local plant expert, Mike Berkley, tells us that his read on things is that our “orchard” has been cultivated for an incredibly long time.

Three Broomsticks

Halloween got off to a slow start with the cancelation of two more soccer games (bummer!), but it picked up from there. We had an excellent, chill visit to the farmers’ market, followed by a visit to Provence’s Fall Fest. Much to our surprise, the Fall Fest included face painting, which contributed to the later festivities beautifully.

As every Halloween should, ours finished with some excellent trick-or-treating on a gorgeous, crisp, fall night. Really, a nearly full moon, a partly cloudy sky, 50° temperatures… it was beautiful. Further, the neighborhood we adopted for the night (Annandale) was nothing short of fantastic. The walks were short, the people were great (this is part of our school bus route), and the houses were awesome. All told, the night was great.

Without further ado, allow me to present, “The Three Broomsticks“!
