I am certain that all of you will watch this very important video. If you would like to see the additional 14:30 of this event, please let me know. I'll be sure to post it.
Each of the girls have struggled with snapping when the first saw it. They wanted to snap so badly, they just kept trying. Here's the latest, Lindy's early attempts.
Aspen's performance of "Go Fish!" went wonderfully last night. She nailed every line, and she did so with feeling. While I'm considering posting the full 35 minutes, I think we'll start with just this. It's the third scene, and the one that features most of Aspen's lines. If you can't find her, look for the Needlefish (with the tall silver hat).
We had one of our big Tuesday's yesterday... Oakley had school, Aspen had school, both had soccer practice for the first time this year, and we finished it up with this... Oakley's spring show at BUMC Day School. I've spared you all the other classes and boiled it down to the 3+ minutes featuring Oakley and her friends. Enjoy it here by clicking play or click through to Vimeo for a higher definition version.
So Oakley and Lindy get a fair amount of time at home without Aspen. Monday, Wednesday, Friday... that's their time. It's one of the cool parts about having three girls spaced as we do... there are different relationships.
Lately, they've really been enjoying playing "Kindermusik". Lindy has a class she attends with Jenn each week, but this is something a little different. Oakley gets to be the teacher, which she loves, and Lindy gets to be the mommy, which she loves. It's pretty cool. Check out Lindy's bear and how well it does in class.
And yes, Lindy does pull up her pants a lot... Her bottom is so little, it fails to hold up the pants.
So, we're moving some stuff around on the office network and I found this little video. I figured, why not share it with you today. It's Aspen, more than 5 years ago...
At last, after a few days of messing with formats and video companies, I have Aspen's Basketball Debut ready for you.
Quite frankly, I was worried about this game. Our practices have been quite chaotic, and I thought things could be remarkably ugly. Well, the game was a pleasant surprise, as was Aspen's play. She plays on a team with 5 2nd graders and one other 1st grader. But I think she looked like she belonged.
To help you, on this occasion, Aspen's team is wearing blue. She's number 7 (short, dark hair). The video consists of almost all of Aspen's relevant, visible plays. It is fully 9 minutes long, so don't feel you need to watch any/all of it. Things to watch for include Aspen's great defensive hustle (and aptitude) and the fact that she scored once, had a couple of assists, and even took a ball off the nose.
As for the video, I'm trusting that I've got the embedding figured out. You should see the video itself right beneath this post. It will look pretty good here, certainly better than YouTube. But, if you really want a high definition experience, you have to click through to Vimeo's hosting of the video. They have an HD option that make it look beautiful, even if you click the full screen option in lower right. So, if you want the full experience, click on this link ( Aspen's Basketball Debut) and enjoy it over there. On a video as long as this one, I would say it's worth it.
Also, special thanks to Jenn, who spent the whole game holding a video camera and watching two kids in the bleachers. No one would be able to watch any of this without Jenn's cramping biceps.
This post has a high def (or higher def) version of the swingslam video. I'm considering posting using this more often... but I want your feedback. Is it slow to load for you? Does it work great? Is the increased quality worth the time downloading?
Let me know what you think in the comments below or with an email. Thanks.
Note: This post should have shown the video in line. Something went wrong. If you review a later post, you'll see the embedded video.
That's right, we have more video tonight. These are basically things I throw together because I know that I'll love them in 2 years. Right now, they're a little funny, but time will improve them.
Check this out... so, you may know that our house was featured in a book recently. A local talk show wanted to interview the authors, and thought that a local home would be a great place. Well, as it worked out, that home was ours. So, in the end, we got a cool little video feature as well.
Lastly, I would like to apologize to Jenn's brother Doug. The last few seconds of this clip will crush him, as we will have risen to a level of importance that he can never match. Let me just say, Lelan is an idol to us all.
Alright, this video is long-ish and unedited, but it has some great shots of Aspen playing soccer. We just had our last game with this team over the weekend and Aspen played her typical game. Aspen is not the one scores a lot of goals, but she is a high effort player who is really quite good and stopping goals, hustling, and kicking the ball hard. She's number 7...
