Berlin
“Under the lindens” – the trees and the girl
This S-Bahn station sat unused for 28 years during the Cold War; note the original 1931 tiling (yes, it’s drab but we’re morally obligated to take pictures of our youngest daughter wherever it says Linden)
At the Brandenburg Gate – Doesn’t Oakley look thrilled?
The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe – completed in 2005, it consists of 2,711 tombstone-like pillars of various sizes (Why 2, 711? That’s just how many would fit.)
Tim rates this at the most visually striking site on our trip.
