Smashing Dolphins

Soccer season is officially underway, and we’re loving it. Aspen and Oakley’s teams both had their debuts this morning (and we even managed to get to the farmers’ market…) It’s been a big day already.

Since I had the camera tucked away in the uniform bag during Aspen’s game, we managed to miss out on all the action. Let me tell you, though, that the team played a really nice game. Aspen simply controls the back end of a field. When a ball is coming toward her with an opponent in tow, Aspen becomes a freight train, hell bent on an collision course. A 3-1 score in the Purple Panda’s favor was the result. That’s right, we’ve entered the world of keeping score (although today was a friendly).

Oakley’s team, the Smashing Dolphins, got off to a good start as well. For each of these girls, it was their first game on bigger fields, and they had to get acquainted with goalies. No official scores are kept in Oakley’s league, but I can tell you that a clean sheet was kept… Quite impressive, Smashers. (Oakley is partly responsible for the team name… She thought “Big Fat Smashers” would be a good one. It’s been adapted for the team, and it’s also been assigned to my team in the all important North Shore Fantasy Football League.)

So, without further adieu, I offer you the Smashing Dolphins, Game 1.
