An Awesome Lake Weekend

Have we ever had an awesome time on Tennessee’s waterways lately. This weekend, we were treated to a fantastic day on Tims Ford Lake. Our neighbors, the Donahues, invited us to their lake house for a day of playing around in the water.

Even today, as I was putting together the video below, I was shocked at home many cool things we all got to do in a single day. A brief list? Kayak, jet ski, water ski, tube, jump off a 14 foot dock (even Lindy!) It was nothing short of a perfect day.

More than any of that, though, do you know what I came away most amazed by?

The Donahue boys.

We know Matthew… Jenn often picks up Matthew with the girls from their bus stop at days’ end (or vice versa, Janet picks up the girls…) So, we have some idea how well behaved they are. But really, Eric (15), Luke (13), and Matthew (10?) were so incredibly good to our girls. The boys don’t just tolerate our girls, they actually seem to enjoy them (and a couple of other girls, 8 and 5, who were there too). They played with them, they shared all of the awesome stuff around the lake house… Matthew even did a “celebratory handstand” after one of them jumped off the roof of the dock. (This was particularly impressive in 16 feet of water.)

These are the kind of kids who make the phrase “Oh well, he’s just all boy,” look crazy. Smart, well adjusted, fun, and oh so respectful. They made me come home hoping my girls would be all that by the time they’re in high school.

So, thanks to the Donahues. We’re really grateful for all the fun we’ve gotten to have lately, particularly our time on the lake Saturday.
